Instructions for Proposing an Exhibition at the Floyd Bettiga Gallery
Proposals:
Proposals for art exhibitions are accepted on an ongoing basis, but must be submitted at least seven months prior to the requested exhibition dates.
An artist or group of artists who wish to propose an exhibition should send a completed proposal via email to Lindsay Kessner, lindsay-kessner@onetree365.com
The proposal needs to include the following:
- 200-word abstract that describes the themes and content of the show, media exhibited, installation requirements, as well as the preferred month of the year for the exhibition.
- 5-15 jpegs of representative work, formatted into one PDF document, which includes the following additional information: artwork dimensions, dates, media, and title(s).
- A current CV for all the exhibiting artists.
Review:
After the proposal submission, the proposals are forwarded to the Art faculty and the Dean of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences for consideration. Once an exhibition receives approval, the artist(s) works with the Gallery Director and the Instructional Support Specialist to organize the logistics.
Budget/Logistics: The Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Division has a modest budget to supply paint and hardware, as well as resources for gallery attendants and exhibition insurance. The Floyd Bettiga gallery cannot provide funds for shipping artwork, so it is the responsibility of the artists to transport work to and from the gallery. The College Marketing Department will create color posters and also advertise the exhibition through official press releases and social media outlets.
Guidelines: Exhibitions at the Floyd Bettiga Gallery typically last 4 to 6 weeks, though there is no set minimum or maximum limit for exhibition duration. Artists proposing exhibitions should be aware that mid-April through the end of spring semester time slot is reserved for the annual juried student show, and also that the gallery is not open during the academic breaks. Proposals for an exhibition at the Floyd Bettiga Gallery should support the pedagogical mission of the Art Department and the Redwoods Community College District.
